It's been awhile since I've done a DIY project. I was looking for something to help with prop styling where I could bring to styled shoots or weddings as a backup. Just in case the location didn't have something that can be used or if the background is too busy. Thought it would be a nice portable option.
I did a test prototype board for my sister, Julie for her calligraphy work (Julie Ha Design). If you haven't checked out her work, highly encouraged! It's amazing! Still working on perfecting the back of the board but this was a good start. Wanted to share with all my fellow creative friends! Enjoy!
- Fabric (Color of your choice)
- Paint Board
- Rotary Cutter
- Cutting Mat
- Clear Adhesive
- Steamer or Iron
- Props to style!
Step 1: Depending on the size of the board you wish to make, you can get fabric at your local fabric store or online. Start by steaming/ironing some of the lines out of the fabric.
Step 2: Lay the board with the top facing down on the fabric. Trim the fabric leaving about 1 inch to 1.5 inch all around the board.
Step 3: Stretch as much of the fabric to the back side of the board and clip them down.
Step 4: Using the steamer to remove any removing creases.
Step 5: Staple on the back side or clear adhesive to keep the fabric from moving
Step 6: Have fun with prop styling with the new board!
